Why a Trial Isn't Optional
A bridal makeup trial is a full run-through of your wedding-day look, done weeks in advance so there are no surprises on the actual day. Skipping it means finding out for the first time — on your wedding morning — whether a look actually works for you. A trial removes that risk entirely.
What Happens During a Trial
- Discussing your vision: natural, glam, traditional, or a mix — and what matches your dress, venue, and skin tone.
- Testing foundation shade and formula against your actual skin, tested under different lighting when possible.
- Trying eye looks, lip colors, and overall styling to see how they photograph and how they feel to wear for a full day.
- Taking photos of the final trial look so you can compare it against how you picture your wedding day.
When to Book It
We recommend booking your trial 4–6 weeks before the wedding — close enough that your skin condition will be similar to the big day, but with enough time to adjust anything that didn't work, or book a second trial if needed.
How to Get the Most Out of It
- Bring photos of looks you like — and looks you specifically don't like, which is just as useful.
- Wear (or bring a photo of) your dress or a similar silhouette/color so the makeup can be considered alongside the full picture.
- Try to schedule it around the same time of day as your actual ceremony, since lighting changes how makeup looks.
- Be honest about what you love and don't — a trial only helps if you speak up before the real day.
