Choosing your design
Bridal henna is usually detailed and covers the hands and arms. Traditional Moroccan patterns are bold and geometric, simple and minimal designs suit everyday wear, and kids henna uses playful shapes. Bring photos of designs you like, and tell us where on your hands or arms you want the design.
Preparing for henna
- Wash and dry your hands and arms, and avoid lotion or oil on the area before you start
- Plan enough time to sit still while the design is applied
- Wear loose sleeves that will not touch the design
- Tell us if you have sensitive skin or have reacted to henna before
Looking after your henna
Follow the aftercare instructions your artist gives you. These usually include keeping the design dry for the first hours, not scrubbing it, and moisturizing gently once the paste has been removed. The color keeps deepening over the first day or two, so do not worry if it looks light at first.
A safety note about black henna
Natural henna paste gives an orange to deep brown stain. Products sold as black henna can contain a dye called PPD, which can cause serious skin reactions. If you are ever offered black henna, say no. If you have had a reaction to a dye before, tell us before your appointment.
Bridal parties and groups
Henna is also available as part of our home service, which is ideal for bridal parties and groups across Abu Dhabi. Many brides combine henna with bridal makeup and nails. Message us on WhatsApp with the date and the number of people.
